Abstract: Cell polarity is regulated by the microtubule and actin cytoskeleton. We use microfluidic channels to control the shape of cells. We show that microtubules can initiate new sites of polarized cell growth; and actin maintains growth. A feedback loop exists between cell shape and the cytoskeleton - changes in the cytoskeleton changes cell shape, and changes in cell shape changes the cytoskeleton.
