The 22nd International C. elegans Conference was held in Los Angeles, USA from June 20th to 24th , 2019. Over 1500 researchers participated and presented their results according to different biological themes. Guoye Guan, Ph.D candidate in Tang Lab, attended the meeting and gave a poster on the topic of “System-Level Quantification and Phenotyping for Early Embryonic Morphogenesis of Caenorhabditis elegans”. Cell Lineage consisting of division timing, division orientation and migration trajectory is highly invariant druing C. elegan embryogenesis, it’s still unknown how the precision is achieved. Collaborating with Prof. Zhongying Zhao’s lab at HKBU, this work established a spatio-temporal statistical reference using 222 wild-type embryos, and analysed the phenotypes of over 750 mutants, aiming at interpreting the fundamental principals of development from perspective of both biology and physics. Prof. Zhongying Zhao and Dr. Ming-Kin Wong (HKBU) also attended the conference.
