On January 14, 2020, the 2019 Annual Academic Meeting of the Center for Quantitative Biology at Peking University was held in the Deng Youcai Lecture Hall of Jinguang Life Science Building. Professor Tang Chao gave a welcome speech on behalf of the center. Professor Luhua, the deputy director of the center, reviewed and summarized the work of the center in the past year, including team building, research progress, international cooperation and exchange, and graduate / undergraduate training. The outlook for the future development of the center was also presented. Subsequently, 4 invited speakers presented their work. They were Prof. Shen Xiaohua of Tsinghua University (Non-coding RNA- and RNA binding protein-mediated transcription and epigenetic regulation), Dr. Zhang Shihua of Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Computational methods to elucidate chromatin topological structures using 3D genomic maps), Dr. Bu Dongbo, Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (FALCON-DeepSearch: predict protein structure using intelligent Monte Carlo search), and Prof. Li Zhiyuan, Center for Quantitative Biology (Modeling microbial ecology with secondary metabolites). 19 graduate students from the center gave oral presentations in the afternoon, and 67 students gave poster presentations in the evening.
Many members of Tang Lab gave oral and poster presentations. Several lab members won Quantitative Biology Scholarship. Ren Huixia won the first prize, Zhang Lu and Xia Kang won the second prize, Guan Guoye and Liu Xiang won the third prize, and Tian Bingyu won the scientific research encouragement prize.
