摘 要:

Undulatory swimming is a prevalent and successful strategy for organisms to move in fluids across all scales: from sperms to dolphins. How the thrust is generated externally and how the power is generated internally have attracted researchers in biology, robotics, and fluid mechanics in the past few decades. In this talk, I will review the progress that has been made in understanding the propulsion hydrodynamics and muscle usage. Particularly, I will show our recent progress on this topic using 3D numerical simulation and discuss the connections between hydrodynamics, body shape, muscle activation and anatomy of fish.
