Congratulations to Yanyan, who has been awarded the “Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship”. Boya(博雅) fellowship is the most prestigious fellowship at Peking University for the outstanding early-career postdoctoral researchers.
Prof. Daron Standley Visited Our Group
Invited and hosted by Dr. Chen Song, Prof. Daron Standley from Osaka University visited our group. Prof. Standley gave us a seminar entitled “Quantifying structural and functional convergence in immune cell repertoires” at the Center for Quantitative Biology on 16th Nov, in which he presented his wonderful work on B-cell receptor modeling. Many questions were asked and ideas exchanged after the seminar.
Rotation Students from CLS
Three graduate students from Center for Life Sciences, Limin Chen, Hui An and Xiaotong Wang, joined our group for a two-month rotation training. Welcome!
Prof. Michael Levitt’s Visit
Invited and hosted by Prof. Chao Tang, Prof. Michael Levitt is visiting Center for Quantitative Biology and Peking University. Prof. Levitt received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, for the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems. Dr Chen Song is honored to have hosted one of Prof. Levitt’s seminars entitled “Hybrid Multiscale Models for Simulating Functional Motion in Macromolecular Complexes”. The whole group attended the seminars and listened to the talk from the ‘master’ of computer simulations.

Two New Members
We have two new members joining us lately. Dr. Yanyan LIU is joining us as a postdoctoral researcher and will work with us for two years. Lei WANG is a rotation student of CQB, who joined the group in early September, and will study and work with us for three months (at least). Warmest welcome to both!
Guangzhou Meeting
Prof. Ruth Nussinov Visited Us
Welcome Dr. Shanshan QIN
Dr. Shanshan Qin is joining us as a research scientist. Shanshan has got extensive multi-scale calculation and simulation experiences from her previous research work at Tsinghua and NIBS Beijing. We are pleased to have her on aboard.
Dr. Sai LI Visited
Dr. Sai LI visited our group and gave an exciting seminar entitled “Viral glycoproteins mediated membrane fusion studied in situ by Cryo-electron tomography” at CQB. Sai is currently a senior research associate at the Oxford Particle Imaging Centre, Wellcome Trust for Human Genetics, UK. It’s nice to see molecular dynamics simulations work well with Cryo-electron tomography in structure determination of large protein complexes in situ.
Man XUE left the group
Sadly, Man XUE has left the group to pursue her PhD at another institution. Man XUE worked with us for a year and did a great job in both research and administration. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
