从基于结构到基于系统的药物发现”国际研讨会(2007.8.20-23)

We invite you to participate in the Symposium on “From Structure to Systems based Drug Discovery” on August 20th to 23rd, 2007 in Beijing, China. This annual conference held by Center for Theoretical Biology (CTB) is jointly organized with the California Institute for Quantitative Biomedical Research (QB3) and the topics will focus on systems based drug discovery. The symposium will include invited talks, poster session and discussions on the new challenges and developments in drug discovery at systems level. Papers on structural based and systems based drug design methods and applications are welcome.

Structural based drug design has witnessed tremendous progresses in the part decade. However, many blockbusters blocking particular targets were found of severe side effects. There is an emergent call for drug discovery that the whole disease system should be considered in order to develop more efficient and less toxic therapeutics. The development of systems biology provides great opportunity for the innovation of drug discovery. This symposium will bring in world leaders and experts working on systems biology, structural based drug design, disease related protein targets or networks and drug discovery to share progress, exchange ideas, and identify opportunities in systems based drug discovery. It would also serve as an interactive learning platform for students and researchers of various disciplines who are interested in getting into the field.

The symposium will take place in Peking University, Beijing, China. As the capital of China, Beijing(map, right click and download) is a noted city for international tourism. The participants of the Symposium will enjoy themselves of over 5000 years’ Chinese history, natural beauties, hospitality of Chinese people and the world famous Chinese cuisine. There are a lot of historical places and scenic spots around Beijing, such as the Palace Museum, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs, the Lamasery Temple, the Fragrance Hill Park, and so on. Short tours will be organized within Beijing and around.
